Cambodian American Cultural and Memorial Museum
A major goal for the Save Smith Baker Foundation is to partner with Cambodia Town Lowell to create the Cambodian American Cultural and Memorial Museum in the heart of Lowell's Cambodia Town
While saving the Smith Baker Center is a longer-term project, in the meantime, we are currently developing traveling exhibits that will travel together to various venues around Lowell. All of these exhibits will be preserved and more will be added as the exhibits travel to other venues until it finds a permanent home in the museum building in Cambodia Town
A small introductory exhibit is currently on display in the lobby of Middlesex Community College’s Academic Arts Center at 240 Central Street in Lowell.
The Cambodian American Cultural and Memorial Museum will serve as a space for education, remembrance, and healing, dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Cambodian people. It will provide a profound place for reflection on the impact of the Cambodian genocide, celebrate Cambodian cultural traditions, and foster unity and understanding among all members of the Lowell community.
